Purple Flavor was started in 2004 in the garage of Shane's home in Laguna Beach.The company started out hand crafting plush versions of his childhood nick name Maggot. The original maggot was large and bumpy and not very cute.

The toys original concept was for a T-shirt design and sticker. Through the encouragement of a teacher and friend Chris Amaral of O.C.C and Ronnie Brim a guest speaker and designer himself the idea that a toy could come of it blossomed.

Shane began sewing at O.C.C and soon turned himself into a...into a...really crafty sewy kinda guy! The little maggot in his head was reborn as Hello Maggot and a whole new chapter in his life was opened. Now toys like the "Roast Chicken" can be seen in stores from L.A. to New York City! Cool! Shane is now on the adventure of a life time, doing exactly what he wanted, and showing the world that ugly, creepy, stinky things can be made cute enough to snuggle, hold, and smoosh against your eager lips.

Shane now spends his time on his tire swing under the old oak tree thinking of new ideas for toys, like "Band Aid and Scab" "Dead Roach" and "The Burnadetes" Two match stick lovers that...you just have to see them for yourself.
